Tis the season.....

Everyone is going in different directions in my family this season.  I seem to be the only one at peace, doing very little differently than what has become the normal for me.

I have contacted the homeless shelter in Sequim.  I would like to help out over the holidays in any way I can.  I am still a very materialistic person (hard habit to break) but I do take time to 'give back.'

Kilt, Trouble, and Wayne have been weighing heavily on my mind.  At first, I told Wayne to stay home over Christmas.  He gets 2 weeks off every year from Lockheed Martin.  The only real relaxing Christmas's were at Jalama beach where we could just be bums for a week.  When Wayne drives here from California, he drives straight through making me crazy with worry.  There is no stopping  him.

Wayne asked to come up for a few days to put a refrigerator in my RV.  Quite frankly, I'm fine without one.  It means I don't have to worry about leveling the damn thing.  A long as I am not on the road for over a week, an ice chest does me fine.

But, this morning, my two dogs in California have been weighing heavily on my mind.  Coming 12 and 14 yrs. of age, I'd really like to have Kilt and Trouble here.  They may be good friendship for Wayne on top of the mountain, but it is hard for them all day in kennel runs.  They can be Sequim bums with me.

At first, I have thought about driving down to California come March/April to pick them up.  But, today I have a better idea if Wayne will go along with it.  I have enough free Alaskan miles that he can fly for free.  Alaska is great with dogs.  Kilt could fly cargo and Trouble could fly in the cabin with him.   I put out a few feelers to him today to see what he thinks of that plan.

I know he has enjoyed their company, but this coming year the house needs to go on the market.  I think it will be less stress on Wayne if I take the dogs now.  No one wants a "yappy" JRT barking at prospective buyers when they come to look at the house :0)

I know Wayne will worry constantly about flying the dogs, but really, it is way less STRESS than leaving them in kennel runs during fire season.  I don't want them to have endure another summer there.  We were lucky this last summer.  The fire season missed us (but, not by much)

My son's house is in escrow on Whidbey Island.  Fingers crossed.  His very last day in the Navy is tomorrow.  He already has some job offers in Roseburg where he will be residing permanently when all is said and done up here.  I told him not to bother visiting me before he leaves, but I just received a text telling me he is coming before he leaves for Thanksgiving with his wife and stepson in Roseburg.

Bonnie Block has extended an invitation to me and one to another lone soul to come to her home for Thanksgiving.  Maybe  I will have to make pineapple upside cupcakes :0)  I am looking forward to it.

So all is well in paradise.  Just trying to get the logistics down for the holidays.  If I don't blog again before turkey day, y'all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!  Be sure to count your blessings!

It's hard to know what is the best thing to do, but sounds like you have a decent plan.
Beautiful Kilt!
