Trying to remember....

I've had a suckee week.  From Dunnigan, thus far, it has been all down hill.  I refuse to look at my horoscope.  I thought about calling in sick on Wednesday and driving to the beach.  But, I had so much stuff in my truck, I knew it would be wet on the coast and I would have to pack up wet stuff and sleep with wet dogs.  I decided against it.

When I arrived home the BCs, of course, were excited to be home and see their friends.  I heard a thug (thump) in the back yard.  I saw our 14 year old Lab flat on the ground with her head in the dirt.
Most likely Krazy Kilt was running sideways and body slammed her.  I thought her back was broken.  I let her lie for a moment and then called her.  She got up, but her hair on her back and part way down her tail was standing straight up.  I put her in Champ's kennel along with Trouble, our JRT.  I went to the truck, came back and found her down again.  I called to her and she got up.  Her hair was now going down on her back.  I continued to unpack the truck and check on her every few minutes.  Thank the Lord above, she is okay.

l went to work the next morning.  I worked in ICU. You know it's going to be a challenging day when the nurse reporting to you says this patient should be a one to one and you have that particular patient and another.  Yup...they were right.  I managed to get through the day, but by the time I was ready to leave, the tears came.  It was a hard   I was worried about my patient.  I arrived home and cried a bit more.

This morning I let the dogs out and while I was out cleaning the dog yard, I noticed Trouble wasn't around.  I called, I searched, I looked inside and out...no Trouble.  I didn't hear any noises or barks.  She was wearing her little camouflaged coat and now she was no where in sight.  I cried.  I couldn't fathom why this week has been so rough.  The tears flowed again.   If a mountain lion had got her, the other dogs would have said something???  So, I started hiking the property and after about 5 minutes or so, here comes a very sheepish looking Trouble.  She isn't wearing her coat???  I don't know what happened or why....But, I'm dang glad she is back.  I walked all over looking for her coat.  So far, I haven't found it.

All of the dogs are sick of the construction and so am I.  They don't like the pounding, drilling, sawing, etc.  The house is full of dry wall dust.  And, I have a feeling it is going to take them the whole month of May to complete the job of redoing two bathrooms.  UGH!
This too, will pass, so I am trying to keep the above quote in my mind and remember how blessed I am! :0)
