Ensenada

Really, there isn't a whole lot to do in Ensenada.  We chose to go to the Riviera resort.  The Federales were everywhere making their presence known to the drug cartels.  We had planned on going to Papa's and Beer in Rosarito beach, but nixed the idea for the resort.
The Riviera resort was old and there were too many kids there.  But, we did find some isolated places to get some sun.  They had a buffet lunch, but it didn't get any favorable mentions.

Pictured from pool side.  Pretty views.  Bad music.

Mary laid out by the pool.  I opted for the beach.  We got a good start on our tans for the year.

It's hard to listen to the "tour guide" when next to the bus is a Federales with a mask and machine gun pointed.  That about finished Mary, but she was a good sport and walked into town with me later in the day.

This was a common sight in Ensenada.  Not exactly what you want to see on your vacation.

If you don't care what you put into your body, you can buy from their pharmacy.   They offer, Vicodin, antibiotics, Viagra, Prilosec, Motrin and anything else you could think of (dirt cheap) and probably not in the purest form.  They have them everywhere.

Just a busy little town with lots of JUNK for sale.  Lots of toddlers and little kids begging for a living.  It's hard to see 18 month old babies standing with their little hands out for money.  The older children sell "chiclets" for money.

There were some horse carriages near by.  So for $5.00 we opted to get in one to take us back to the ship.

Our carriage horse was in pretty good shape.  Here he is making a U-turn in traffic.
Hold on Mary...we are almost there.

I had to laugh because our carriage had a REAR view mirror.  And, let me tell you, that mirror had taken some hits.  It was cracked and banged up something awful.

The horse carriage dropped us off here. We had to walk by the Feds in ski masks with machine guns to get back to the ship.  Mary was a good sport, but she did say, "If we take this cruise again....next time we don't get off in Ensenada.  We just spend the day on board."  I agree!

The next day we spent the day at sea just outside of Catalina Island.  The time just went by too fast.  What a glorious trip, with lots of memories.  I'm sure we will do it again.  I think Mary is already looking at different cruises we could take (and most likely, they don't include Mexico) :0)

Looks like it was a pretty great cruise overall, well except for the Ensenada part maybe:)
