O CAPTAIN! My Captain! Our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won.
Rest in Peace, Pop. 7/1/1917 - 01/10/2012
Captain in the Army Air Corp WW11
Graduate with a Masters Degree from Duke University
Aeronautical engineer with TWA
An officer, a gentleman, a loving husband, and the best father ever.
Pop passed listening to old time swing(Big Band)music that he loved as I held his hand and lightly laid my head on his chest. He knew I was there with him. When I told him how much I loved him he looked at me, smiled, and said "thank-you." I told him to dance right up that staircase to Heaven where Mom would be waiting for him. I know she will give him heck for taking sooo long to join her. It doesn't get any more peaceful than that. Godspeed Pop.
It's been a bit surreal. My heart is broken. I have lost my hero, my Pop.
Thank-you all for your kind words and support. I'm homeward bound. Suzanne

Awww Suzanne......I know how much your Pop has meant to you, you have written such wonderful tributes to him over the year and a half or so that I have been reading your blog.
He'll be happy that his daughter was there to send him on his next journey. (((Hugs))) Karen
So Sorry.
I thank my facebook and blog community for their support and comforting words. Even though I knew this day was coming, it didn't make it any easier. Love you, Pop.
Shelly, that is beautiful. Thank-you for that :0)
Deepest sympathies. I'll be thinking of you.
I am so sorry for your loss. I will be facing the same soon and I must cherish every moment, as you have, until then.
Wishing you comfort in the knowledge that you will see him again.
