While Jim and Linda took a little vacation, Scooter, the neighbors JRT saw her chance to come visit. Normally there is a little gate up, because the chihuahua doesn't like Scooter. Scooter knows my voice and as soon as she could, she came a visiting. I let her in so Pop could pet her. Then I asked her for a few tricks I taught her on previous visits. She didn't forget :0) She's a "Jack"...anything for a treat!
One late afternoon, I clicker trained squirrels to Pop's delight. It wasn't too difficult to get them to come up the two flights of stairs to jump on the glass coffee table for "peanuts." Dad loved it. He would forget that the squirrel came up for a visit. So each time a squirrel jumped up on the table it was a whole new "delight' for him. He still has some long term memory. But, his short term memory is gone.
"Oh NO....NOT again!" Yep, that's what Dad said when he saw me take the new jigsaw puzzle out of the box. That shows me his long term memory is pretty much intact. hahahahaha
It was a chore, but we did it and we did it together. We finished it on my last evening there.
Dad loved his little cake for his 94th birthday. The neighbors came by with homemade cheesecake with cherries on top. He got lots of cards. It was great. I gave him a picture book of Yosemite. He enjoyed looking at the photos.
Happy 94th Pop. We are ALL looking forward to your 95th birthday!
