That's my grandson, Dustin, and I (with wind-swept do) on the Island Crossing catamaran. We left from Ventura Harbor. It only took a little over an hour to get to Santa Cruz Island. The fog started breaking up just as the island appeared through it. Good thing we all packed shorts, lunch, and lots of water.
The Channel Islands of California are a chain of eight islands located in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Southern California along the Santa Barbara Channel in the United States of America. Five of the islands are part of the Channel Islands National Park.
A few seal lions hanging around on a buoy sleeping
Dustin and his fiancee, Jenee (see diamond ring)
I have to work when they are having their engagement party. So, this was my engagement gift to them.
Dustin will take off this Sunday for San Antonio to resume med school as a corpsman for the Navy.
Cool photo off the side of the boat...dolphin racing with the boat wave
When the Catamaran slowed, many dolphin played in the front of the boat. That's not a bad picture with my new USED ebay pocket camera. Glad I bought it!
Sun breaking through on Santa Cruz island. See the ripples in the water. It's either a pod of dolphin playing or a group of sea lions swimming.
You can just catch a glimpse of the sea cave at the point
We have arrived. Now let's get going. More pics tomorrow.

What a beautiful place! Can't wait for the next installment.
This was my first time taking a boat to one of the Channel Islands. I can't wait to explore another one of the islands some day.
